However, this year my 3rd graders were happy and active while reading music and playing a game with the tennis balls!\r\nMy 5th graders loved this game as well, because it gets them up and moving chaotically but safely!\r\nThe stretchy band has been a huge hit with my special needs students, PreK, 1st, and 2nd graders! One day I literally \"dragged\" a nonverbal student all around my classroom while he was in the band. He wore ME out! It is important in our district that students work in collaborative groups and the iPad is great for a learning center.\r\nExample: In the last two lessons, my 3rd grade students made animal sounds and movements in small groups, listened to Carnival of the Animals, and then played a game from Carnegie Hall on my Promethean Board and iPad. The game tried to trick them when listening to sounds that were either animals or instruments. I added some community helper books because that is something we talk about in preschool, and I have students that just love the Police Officer books. The \"Little Spot of Feelings\" plush and sensory fidget toys have been very helpful for my younger students to express their feelings and share with the class. We are grateful for your support! They are having so much fun reading the new books and they audibly gasped at our beautiful new rug. They got so excited to sit on the rug and learn from their spots on the rug. Every day, they ask if they can sit on the rug, even when they are completing seat work! It is so nice to see them so excited about something!\r\n\r\nMy students were asking me every day before the materials arrived if they were here yet and when they would arrive to the school because they were so excited to see it all! They all stood up out of their seats when the janitor brought it all in, and they were so excited to see it and use it the following day when it was all unpacked. \r\n\r\nWe are using the rug every day for whole group instruction, and the students use the books during their small group or independent time.
