The books provided to our students will have a lasting impact on their literacy and imaginations. Specifically our students are positively impacted by Social Emotional Learning (SEL) books. This is so because, these books focus on emotional impacts, feelings, and how to thrive in social settings. These books, I believe reduce bullying, and exclusionary behaviors that isolate students instead of including them. \r\n\r\nBecause of your SEL donations, our students can have fun and interactive reading that can help them navigate their school and home lives. All of our students want to be seen in some way, when I teach and read these books, I allow many students to read and discuss how the texts make them feel. I allow for commentary and call on all students to participate. These reading sessions are a highlight of library time. \r\n\r\nThis donation means so much to the students and staff at Huffaker Elementary School.","fullyFundedDate":1768706070979,"projectUrl":"project/growing-hearts-stories-to-help-kids-sha/10026889/","projectTitle":"Growing Hearts: Stories to Help Kids Share, Care and Cooperate","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Perez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8159019"},{"teacherId":4631455,"projectId":10033644,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support to the Huffaker Elementary School counseling office. Because of your kindness, our students now have access to snacks and essential sensory items such as noise-canceling headphones and weighted blankets—resources that make a meaningful difference in their daily school experience.\r\nFor many of our students, meeting basic needs like hunger or feeling overwhelmed can make it difficult to focus, regulate emotions, and fully engage in learning. The snacks you provided help students refuel and feel cared for, while the sensory tools give them safe, healthy ways to calm their bodies and manage stress, anxiety, or sensory overload. These supports allow students to return to the classroom more focused, confident, and ready to learn. For example, we've seen a drastic change in behaviors since we've been able to supply one student with Autism a weighted blanket. He carries it with him all day, every day. The weight from the blanket helps him regulate himself and stay calm throughout the day. I also have a student who lost their mother several years ago to cancer. At times their grief is overwhelming and makes it hard to focus on class. It's during those times they find comfort in a snack and talk with me. \r\n\r\nYour generosity goes far beyond supplies—it sends a powerful message to our students that they are valued, supported, and not alone. Every time a child uses a weighted blanket to calm down, puts on headphones to block out overwhelming noise, or enjoys a snack during a tough moment, your impact is being felt in a very real way.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of our students and school community, thank you for believing in their well-being and for investing in their social and emotional growth. We are truly grateful for your support and compassion.","fullyFundedDate":1768862434562,"projectUrl":"project/a-counseling-office-that-meets-the-needs/10033644/","projectTitle":"A Counseling Office That Meets the Needs of ALL Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. LaRiv","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4631455"},{"teacherId":3463629,"projectId":10005167,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our classroom project. Your kindness and support have made a meaningful difference for my students and our learning community.\r\nBecause of your donation, students were able to work together in collaborative groups, sharing ideas, problem‑solving, and learning from one another in new and exciting ways. The project encouraged teamwork, communication, and creativity—skills that are essential both inside and outside the classroom. I saw students take ownership of their learning, support their peers, and gain confidence as they worked toward a common goal.\r\nYour support did more than provide materials; it created an opportunity for students to experience the power of collaboration and to see that people beyond our classroom believe in their potential. That message alone is incredibly impactful.\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, thank you for investing in their education. More students than just my special education students have wanted to use them, and our playground has never looked better! Everyone is so excited to be a part of helping to keep our school free of trash. \r\nMy special education students have been utilizing all of the fidgets and sensory boxes. I made each of them a box of fidgets along with some break cards. We have spent time practicing how to appropriately use the break box and the supplies inside. They were all so excited to have a special box with their own fidgets! \r\nIn our social skills class, we have been reading through the books about emotions. We most recently read the Todd Parr books and created art in the style of his illustrations. I have included some of these in the pictures for you to see how wonderful they turned out! \r\nAgain, I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for your support in helping to shape the next generation of students. There were gasps, huge smiles, and so many eager hands ready to play. After learning how to properly set up and care for the instruments, each student was able to sit at their own keyboard and explore the keys for the very first time. For many of them, this was their first experience ever playing a piano. That moment—when the room filled with the sound of every child confidently playing together—was unforgettable.\r\n\r\nWe are now using the keyboards during whole-group lessons and small music centers to practice note recognition, rhythm patterns, and simple melodies. Our older students are learning to play short songs using both hands, while our younger students are exploring high and low sounds, steady beat, and basic patterns. One of our favorite moments so far has been when students successfully played their first short song independently and proudly performed it for their classmates.\r\n\r\nNext, we will begin composing simple original melodies and combining keyboard playing with singing and classroom percussion. Students will work in small groups to create short musical pieces that showcase rhythm and melody, building both creativity and collaboration skills. Thanks to your generosity, my students now have consistent, hands-on access to instruments that will continue inspiring confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of music.","fullyFundedDate":1771368035451,"projectUrl":"project/small-keyboards-big-musical-dreams/10049534/","projectTitle":"Small Keyboards, Big Musical Dreams","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Avery","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10415293"},{"teacherId":9552238,"projectId":9999557,"letterContent":"Our students were over-joyed to receive your gifts to add to their classroom.
