We've made it halfway through the year, and the students have been having a wonderful time! The materials you provided have opened up a world of possibilities for us, and we have completed projects we otherwise couldn't have.\r\n\r\nMost notable is the 3D printer. Our school had a huge supply of filament from previous years, but no working printers; however, that filament is finally getting put to good use. I began teaching the students about 3D modeling, starting with Tinkercad. For our Engineering for Our Environment project, students were tasked with researching an environmental issue and proposing an innovation to address it. Students had to present their use of the engineering design process and create physical prototypes of their designs. Many students opted to use Tinkercad and print out aspects of their projects! Such as innovative buoys that help contain oil spills, a specialized container for transporting displaced axolotls to safer environments, and a \"sea-walker\" designed to comb the ocean floor, picking up debris without disturbing the creatures living there. We printed submarines, helicopters, sewer grates, and more, all designed by students. \r\n\r\nIt's been wonderful to see students who, at the beginning of the year, had no interest in this class begin imagining careers in different engineering fields. Many of them enjoy how creative the class is and how many opportunities there are to build, paint, draw, and design. I can only imagine that as we move into the second semester, they will come up with bigger and better ideas! Thank you so much for providing them with this opportunity.","fullyFundedDate":1760031994646,"projectUrl":"project/materials-supplies-for-intro-to-engine/9783678/","projectTitle":"Materials & Supplies for Intro to Engineering","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gurulé","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10162967"},{"teacherId":9585935,"projectId":9504504,"letterContent":"Thank you for giving to our project and helping replenish the classroom of its needs. You're donations are always appreciated by myself, the students, and any visitors we have in the classrooms. As I started my fourth year of teaching I knew it was going to be successful and amazing.
