The resources I've been able to buy have just been invaluable for our classroom! I've had so much fun with the students using flash cards that I've purchased with the funds and doing exciting grammar things that I never would have had time to prepare on my own! One of my favorite things that I've purchased are some grammar themed escape rooms! I hope to be able to use them after the WIDA test so that we can have some much deserved fun while still learning about English. \r\n\r\nI want to tell you how special these students are, and how much your contribution means to me and to them and to me. These students are from many different countries. Some started out the school year with no English, or very very limited vocabularies. In our ESL classroom, they have a chance to learn English, but it's scary. Many are still scared to speak in English to teachers and peers. Despite these difficulties, I have seen my students grow. I know that is due in large part to people like you who have helped me to develop an engaging curriculum. With help from the donations here, I've been able to create activities that give my students a safe and creative way to practice language. I never would have been able to do this without the extra resources that you have helped me to purchase! I love that I can grab a foam chip or dice to give a quick example to my students. They love they can touch and move things around. Some students have amazing insights when they can play around with tangible items for a while.\r\nWe used the foam counting chips to show convection currents. Student's saw how the hot water and cold water made the chips move without them touching them. They are just being introduced into plate tectonics and are already seeing how the models provide an insight into the movement of the plates. \r\nI will be doing my isotopic decay with my students in the upcoming week which will require the dice. I have done this lesson as a student and I can remember how decay works and helps determine the age of something.\r\nI am really excited about my ice core lesson. This project is taking a lot of time and effort to make but, like all the materials you have given, I am able to reuse them over and over again in the future. Students are noticing the fuller shelves and new titles and are choosing them every day to read! Students were overheard planning out which books they would borrow in the future to make sure they get to read the new ones. \r\n The supplies for the classroom (pencils, guillotine cutter, seat cushions, bandaids, etc.) have allowed for my students to worry less about if they have necessary supplies and focus more on successful and productive work. This has made a massive impact.\r\n Thank you, again, for your support and donations.
