They have really helped us with targeted phonics practice when reading with each other or volunteers. By reading books filled with words that are exclusively sounds we have learned, our students have been able to increase their fluency over time. With the varying levels that we were able to purchase, everyone in the classroom is able to access at a reading level that is best suited to them, whether it be for a review of skills or for a challenge. Because of your support, our classroom now has engaging, hands-on learning materials that meet each of my students' unique learning needs.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the task boxes, my students have been using them daily during our independent work time. Each box focuses on specific skills, such as matching and sorting, spelling, math facts, and sequencing, which gives my students the chance to practice independence, problem-solving, and confidence-building in a fun, structured way.\r\n\r\nI'll never forget the excitement on some of their faces as they explored the task boxes for the first time. They were so eager to figure out each task. One of my students, who often struggles to stay focused during writing time, proudly completed a fine-motor sorting task all on his own, and immediately asked if he could \"do another one.\" It was such a powerful reminder of how the right tools can unlock motivation and joy in learning.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're working on building routines where students rotate through their task boxes independently while I support small groups. Our next step is to use the task boxes to reinforce academic goals. I would like to incorporate literacy-based tasks to help students identify sight words and practice spelling.\r\n\r\nYour contributions created meaningful learning opportunities that promote independence, confidence, and joy for my students every single day. Where do you keep those?\" Kids ask for books by topics or by what the main characters are. They are often prevented from finding the book they want by library shelves that are too full, only spine label out, and alphabetical by last name of the author. While that is great for grownups, it prevents our youngest readers from being independent in the library. \r\n\r\nThank you all so much for helping us fund this project. One month into the school year, I can safely say that because you funded this project we are checking out more picture books than ever before! Your donation have enabled students to independently locate the books they want, practicing exercising their freedom of choice, and they are loving the new organizational system. \r\n\r\nWith the tubs, we created more space for forward facing books. This creates easier access to our picture books. The tubs also take away the pressure of needing to put books back in alphabetical order, and having to read sideways spine labels. Instead, tubs are labeled with topics kids ask for like SCARY with both the word and pictures, and CATS with both words and pictures. Students, even our non-readers, are finally able to independently navigate the library and their confidence as beginning library lovers is growing exponentially.","fullyFundedDate":1746503861271,"projectUrl":"project/come-discover-books-in-our-library/9182646/","projectTitle":"Come Discover Books in Our Library!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Beattie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1234164_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1657593108107","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kbeattie"},{"teacherId":10066432,"projectId":9438350,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding my We Love Laminators project! Our custodian put the sequin sensory frame on a wall in the classroom where students will frequently go and create different designs. The bubble fish tube is very calming and mesmerizing to watch. Wobble cushions are great for students who need to move a little when sitting at their desks and the thinking putty and feelings sensory bottles have been great for sensory breaks and some SEL time. We have placed the balance beam in our sensory/movement room where it is often used in obstacle courses.\r\n\r\nThe many storage bins and boxes have helped immensely in getting our classroom a little more organized.
