The headphones, computer storage trays, individual white boards and felt display boards have greatly improved our organization and engagement throughout our day. When our new learning materials arrived in the classroom, we took the time to look at each item and discuss how it would help our learning goals. One of the favorite items we received was the computer/headphone storage trays. We removed the current kangaroo pouches from each table (which were not very user friendly) and replaced them with two storage trays per table. It was such a great learning experience, and we could talk about the importance of organizing our supplies, as well as keeping computers safe and accessible. Additionally, we took the next couple of weeks to implement the use of white boards into daily math lessons, as well as hung up the display boards in our hallway to show off our great works. \r\nOur school is in an area where half of students come from low-income households. Students in our neighborhood have daily home life struggles. Coming to school every day to learn, and of course have fun, enables our students to have a safe place for them to grow as citizens of our community. Being able to provide them with safe classroom supplies and a variety of organization items is always in the forefront of my mind. Therefore, I thank you once again for believing in my students and helping provide learning activities for our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1734228382340,"projectUrl":"project/getting-organized-in-4th5th-grade/9002521/","projectTitle":"Getting Organized in 4th/5th Grade!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McDougall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9871848_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752718358768","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9871848"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36341","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":298,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":63,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":58,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":85.0,"schoolId":36341,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Downing Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Downing Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/tacoma-public-schools/downing-elementary-school/36341"}
