As we grow our classroom students were asking for more graphic novel. Students were recognized within three categories: \"Rising Star,\" \"Magnet School Award,\" and \"Academic Excellence.\" There were over 200 awards given out. Some students received medals, some received certificates of recognition. \r\n\r\nWe are currently saving the trophies for the upcoming Spring awards assembly, where the top-achieving students will receive a trophy. I will be writing an additional project to ask for more trophies, because we expect to recognize more students than anticipated. Additionally, students who pass the exam for industry certifications will also receive a recognition lei in June.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the trophies and the recognition Leis, they were very excited and asked if they get to choose the color of their lei. My classroom is used to provide support for students both emotionally and mentally. By giving them new furniture (bean bag chairs) I'm continuing to create this warm and welcoming environment when students are ready to express themselves and talk to me when they are ready. Most importantly, it creates a safe space for students to feel safe. As for the utility cart, I will use the cart to add recourses that can be helpful to students when they are in need of help.
