We introduced the materials during our morning literacy block, and the moment I passed out the books, the room honestly erupted with little gasps and \"Ooooohs!\" Many students immediately flipped through the pages and started tracing letters in the air because they couldn't wait to begin.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the handwriting books daily as part of our writing routine. Students start each session by practicing letter formation, and then they apply what they learned in their journals, writing sentences that connect to our current reading lessons. One of my favorite moments so far happened this week: a student who usually struggles with neatness held up his page and proudly announced, \"This is the best writing I've ever done!\" The whole class cheered for him, it was such a beautiful reminder of how confidence grows when kids have the right tools.\r\n\r\nThese handwriting books have already made a huge difference in helping students slow down, form letters correctly, and feel successful as young writers. Our next steps are to use the books to support longer writing pieces. As we work on opinion writing and informational paragraphs this quarter, students will use what they've practiced in their handwriting books to make their writing clearer, neater, and easier to read.
