This project has been very exciting for our school and for the students in second grade. We spend several weekends tearing apart the old garden and moving building our new boxes. They look amazing in the garden space. The children and their parents helped to put in the soil from our old boxes into the new boxes but the boxes were bigger than the old ones so we will need to buy some new soil before our spring planting can happen. \r\nIn the spring we look forward to planting several different types of vegetables. Some of the families wanted to arrange the garden so that we have a flower garden to attract bees in the center of the garden space. This will not only be good for pollination but it will make the garden beautiful as well. I look forward to the spring and the excitement of the children for learning about plants and growing a sustainable garden.","fullyFundedDate":1755612949651,"projectUrl":"project/little-hands-do-great-things-through-gar/9525830/","projectTitle":"Little Hands Do Great Things Through Gardening.","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Falla","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3152677_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1582983265696","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3152677"},{"teacherId":2814409,"projectId":9385858,"letterContent":"I am deeply grateful for your generous funding of my project, \"Access to Engaging and Visually Appealing Learning Materials.\" Your support has had a tremendous impact on our classroom. \r\nThe students are thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to explore their creativity with the colored paper and color printer ink you've provided. The fidget tools are being used daily to support emotional regulation, helping students refocus and stay engaged in learning.\r\n\r\nWhen students first walked in and saw the new decorations, their eyes lit up and they immediately noticed how bright, welcoming, and \"home-like\" the classroom felt. Many commented on how it made them feel happy and comfortable, which is exactly the kind of environment I strive to create for them.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to integrate the seasonal materials into writing and art projects, where students will share their own cultural traditions and create displays that represent the diversity of our classroom community. While many people use printers at home for everyday tasks, in the classroom, this technology is opening new doors for learning. Having access to high-quality, color-rich materials helps my Multilingual Learners better understand content, build vocabulary, and make meaningful connections to their own lives and cultures.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is seeing themselves reflected in the materials. When they see books, projects, or posters that include their languages, cultures, or countries printed in full color, their faces light up. It makes the learning feel real, relevant, and welcoming.\r\n\r\nOne of my students, who is new to the country and still learning English, was especially excited when I printed a bilingual story with illustrations that looked like her family and home country. She proudly shared it with her classmates and was more motivated than ever to practice her reading. While many of us are used to technology at home for music or entertainment, this speaker is serving a powerful purpose at school, and it's amplifying student voices so they can be heard, celebrated, and proud of their accomplishments. Whether it's during assemblies, student presentations, or cultural celebrations, the clear sound helps our students practice public speaking, share their learning with confidence, and engage the entire audience.\r\n\r\nWhat excites the students most is the way their voices carry through the room. They love stepping up to the microphone and hearing themselves be heard by peers, families, and staff, many for the very first time in such a big way. For our Multilingual Learners especially, being heard loudly and clearly builds confidence and pride in both their language growth and cultural identity.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stands out is when a shy student, who usually hesitates to speak up, used the microphone to read her poem at our school celebration. With the JBL PartyBox, her voice filled the room, and the smile on her face said it all. She felt proud, supported, and celebrated. That moment reminded me just how important it is to create a space that feels special, inviting, and safe for all learners.\r\nSince the bean bag chairs arrived, we've integrated them into our daily literacy rotations, where students choose a quiet spot to dive into independent reading, either in English or Spanish. The flexibility of seating has helped many of my students focus better and feel more comfortable during reading time. Several students who were previously reluctant readers are now more eager to pick up books and settle into a bean bag with a smile.\r\nThanks to your donation, I've also been able to create small-group learning zones, where students collaborate on vocabulary games, writing projects, and fluency practice in both languages. The bean bags help set the tone for a relaxed, student-centered environment that encourages learning and risk-taking.\r\nLooking ahead, we're about to begin a research project on weather where students will write reports and give presentations in both English and Spanish. The bean bag chairs will be their go-to spot for reading informational texts, drafting ideas, and rehearsing presentations.","fullyFundedDate":1750774633253,"projectUrl":"project/a-seat-for-success-in-two-languages/9419867/","projectTitle":"A Seat for Success in Two Languages","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dery","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6907260_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723636237150","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6907260"},{"teacherId":8708854,"projectId":9126173,"letterContent":"We want to thank you very much for your generosity.
