Because of your generosity, my students now have access to rich texts that spark curiosity and challenge them to grow as readers. These novels are giving us opportunities to work on important skills like identifying theme, comparing characters across chapters, analyzing dialogue, and making inferences about character motivation. For many students, it is their first time diving deeply into a chapter book as a class, and it has opened the door to exciting conversations about both literature and life.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading now feels more interactive than ever. We read aloud together, break into small groups for discussion, and write about our interpretations in reading journals. Students are learning to back up their opinions with text evidence and to listen respectfully when a classmate notices something they missed. The room often buzzes with energy when a student connects a scene from the book to their own life or predicts what will happen next.\r\n\r\nOne student who usually hesitates to participate has become especially engaged with these books. During our last novel study, he eagerly volunteered to summarize each chapter for the group, and his confidence has grown as he realized his classmates were depending on his contributions. Another student, who once struggled to finish books independently, proudly carried her novel home each night and finished ahead of schedule. These moments remind me that the gift of new books is really the gift of belonging and possibility for every child.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our students and making this project a reality.
