Your generosity is helping my students build the skills they need to manage stress, stay focused, and succeed both academically and emotionally.\r\n\r\nIn today's classrooms, learning is not only about academics but also about helping students understand and regulate their emotions. These tools give students safe, appropriate ways to release energy, calm their bodies, and refocus their attention. When students are able to self-regulate, they are more engaged, more confident, and better prepared to learn.\r\n\r\nMy students were especially excited about having choices that help them feel in control of their emotions. The fidgets and Calm Strips provide quiet, discreet support during lessons, while the Spot books help students understand their feelings and learn practical strategies to manage them. The play dough has become a favorite calming activity that allows students to reset and return to learning ready to participate.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously struggled with frustration or difficulty maintaining focus have particularly benefited from these resources. They are now using calming strategies independently and showing greater persistence during challenging tasks. It has been incredibly rewarding to watch their confidence grow as they learn how to manage their emotions in positive ways.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our classroom is becoming a calmer, more supportive environment where students feel safe, understood, and ready to learn. Thank you for investing in both their growth and their well-being.","fullyFundedDate":1756747213933,"projectUrl":"project/calm-minds-focused-learning-sensory-to/9353659/","projectTitle":"Calm Minds, Focused Learning: Sensory Tools for Emotional Regulation","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Grandier","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5815455_orig.png?crop=900,900,x0,y150&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1562595341551","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jody-grandier"},{"teacherId":5815455,"projectId":9731762,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing headphones for our classroom. Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in how my students learn each day.\r\n\r\nThese headphones are vital for personalized learning. Many of our lessons include audio components such as phonics practice, reading support, and interactive programs that allow students to work at their own pace. With headphones, each child can focus on their specific learning needs without distractions, while the classroom remains a calm and productive environment for everyone.\r\n\r\nMy students were incredibly excited to receive them. Having their own headphones made them feel responsible and empowered, and they love being able to fully hear and engage with their learning activities. For many students, especially those who benefit from repeated listening and guided support, this has boosted both their confidence and independence.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who typically struggle to stay focused have especially embraced this technology. The ability to clearly hear instructions and interact with learning programs without background noise has helped them stay engaged longer and participate more successfully. It has been wonderful to see their pride and growth.\r\n\r\nYour support has strengthened both learning and classroom community. The plush seating provides a comfortable place for us to sit during session so I can be on their level, instead of behind a desk. The posters provide visuals for students to use when they are visiting. The fidgets help students to regulate their emotions and use calming techniques throughout the day, no matter where they are. As soon as they realized we had a class set of headphones, it was a game changer. Students are way more excited to work on their laptops during independent time, as they can listen to videos explaining the work without someone getting upset from overhearing it. They have been using their new notebooks to take notes during these videos, independent, and whole class times. These notes are way more detailed, and are consistently proving that by having gained access to auditory support, they have gained understanding. In their new notebooks, each student has a sticker that records their goals on our online platform, along with goals for their major assessments. These stickers come from the sticker paper funded by this project, and has really shown that students get excited by seeing how much they have grown and where thye may end up.\r\nOur next steps are to continue using these notebooks, headphones, and stickers as a motivation to students to show them their work matters and document it in a student friendly way, that continues to contain their growth for them to be able to look back on and know they have flourished this year. As we continue the year switching focus from decimals to fractions, these visual notes from any auditory inputs and visuals will be very important, and your support in getting these students these items will be at the very core of their success.\r\nThank you SO much for your support!","fullyFundedDate":1761147566929,"projectUrl":"project/noteworthy-math-needs/9707029/","projectTitle":"Noteworthy Math Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shanks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10205653"},{"teacherId":10205653,"projectId":9634445,"letterContent":"We are absolutely loving these resources!\r\nAs soon as my students saw the items, their excitement was hard to contain. Math is a difficult subject, and with it being so important to keep engagement when students are learning such key pieces, these resources really helped add to the excitement! We immediately started using the tablets, and have since started to use them daily. Students love that they are dimmly lit as it allows them to show their work in a fun way, but without their neighbors able to see their work. They have requested to use these tablets for everything- things that used to be done on whiteboards or paper are now way more engaging when on the tablets. It's amazing how much more work is being done, and how much more excited they are getting about doing the work. \r\nThe cushions have also been a major hit! Students have been using them during independent/small group time to move around on the floor to find a better spot to focus or even to sit under the board so they can see and take notes better. Other students have been using them in their desk chairs, which has been a great way of hiding some of the noise from student fidgeting- allowing other students to focus more without distraction. The fairy lights, whiteboard markers, and astropaper have all been use as well. The lights are making the classroom feel more cozy, comfortable, and like a safe place than a sterile classroom. The whiteboard markers have been phenomenal in helping engage students during small group, and the astropaper has been a great way of color coding math games adding a fun pop of color to student understanding.\r\nThe next steps for the class is to continue using these resources over the rest of this year and years to come! I plan on using these items to continue making math more fun, and engaging students who may not feel the 'cozy comfort' math has to give with understanding.\r\nI want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, these items have dramatically changed my classroom for good.","fullyFundedDate":1760724825174,"projectUrl":"project/a-cozy-classroom/9634445/","projectTitle":"A Cozy Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shanks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10205653"},{"teacherId":9282589,"projectId":9083010,"letterContent":"The new hands-on manipulatives have quickly become a favorite in our classroom! My students are using them to explore math and science concepts in a more tangible way—building models, testing hypotheses, and deepening their understanding of how abstract ideas connect to real-world applications. The excitement and problem-solving that filled the room were incredible to see!\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with pure joy and curiosity. They immediately started asking, \"Can we use these today?\" and began brainstorming how they could use them in different subjects. The futon also caused quite a buzz—students love having a cozy, flexible spot to read, collaborate, or reflect. It has quickly become the heart of our classroom!\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, my students will continue to use these materials as we dive into upcoming STEM challenges and inquiry-based projects. The manipulatives and flexible seating will help them collaborate, test ideas, and learn from one another—skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom. Many of our students face food insecurity, and for some, school is the most consistent source of nourishment they receive. This project allowed us to go one step further—not only supporting students during the school day, but also providing something to take home and share with their families.\r\n\r\nThe snack bags helped us meet a basic but critical need, and they did more than fill stomachs—they sent a message of care, dignity, and community. Students who received them felt seen and supported. For many families, the gesture came during a time of stress and was deeply appreciated.\r\n\r\nThis project also sparked conversations about kindness and community within the school. With the materials funded through this project, I've been able to provide targeted, engaging resources that help students grow in their reading confidence and ability—from phonemic awareness and decoding to vocabulary and comprehension.\r\n\r\nThese resources have truly transformed our reading block. I've seen students who once hesitated to pick up a book become excited to read. I've watched struggling readers begin to decode words more independently, and I've seen their confidence grow right alongside their skills. One of the most powerful shifts has been hearing students start to refer to themselves as \"readers\"—a small but meaningful change that reflects their growing belief in themselves.\r\n\r\nYour support has allowed me to deliver more effective, joyful instruction that meets students where they are and helps them build the foundation they need for future success—not just in reading, but across every subject.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity. Your support has made a bigger impact than you might imagine—and I want to take a moment to share just how meaningful it has been for our classroom community here in Baltimore City.\r\n\r\nAs a Title I school, many of our students face challenges outside the classroom that can affect their ability to stay focused, engaged, and ready to learn during the school day. One of the most basic—but often overlooked—needs is simply having enough to eat. Whether it's a student who missed breakfast, a long gap between meals, or just a tough day that leaves them running on empty, hunger can be a major barrier to learning.\r\n\r\nThanks to your donation, our classroom now has a stash of healthy, accessible snacks that students can count on when they need a little boost. It may seem like a small thing—but it's not. Having snacks on hand has helped my students stay more alert, more focused, and more emotionally regulated throughout the day. It's one less worry for them and one more way I can show them that they are cared for and supported at school.\r\n\r\nThe presence of snacks has also created an environment where students feel safe asking for help with their needs—without fear of embarrassment or judgment. That kind of trust is priceless and goes a long way in building relationships and a strong classroom culture.\r\n\r\nI can't thank you enough for helping to make this possible.
