Students use them daily during guided reading and independent practice to build their reading fluency and confidence. One special moment that stood out was during partner reading time: I watched a normally shy student light up as she reread a passage into her fluency phone and realized she could hear her voice becoming smoother and more expressive each time. The simple amplification helps students clearly hear their own pacing, expression, and accuracy, making self-correction both immediate and empowering.\r\n\r\nWhen the fluency phones first arrived, the excitement was contagious! Students were amazed that such a simple tool could make their voices sound so clear and strong. They couldn't wait to try them, and our classroom buzzed with focused energy as everyone eagerly practiced. What I love most is how these tools have made repeated reading feel special instead of repetitive—students now ask if they can \"read it again\" to improve their fluency.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will be using the fluency phones to prepare for a Reader's Theater performance. They are practicing scripts, focusing on expression, pacing, and character voices. The goal is not only to strengthen fluency skills but also to build confidence in public speaking. Because of our donors' generosity, my students are developing stronger reading skills and discovering pride in their own voices.","fullyFundedDate":1746653880826,"projectUrl":"project/reading-phones-for-fluency/9199572/","projectTitle":"Reading Phones for Fluency","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bainbridge","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9226111_orig.png?crop=512,512,x0,y128&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693701817191","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9226111"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54802","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":472,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":32,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":54,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"9.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.6,"schoolId":54802,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Captain James E Daly Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Captain James E Daly Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/montgomery-county-public-schools/captain-james-e-daly-elementary-school/54802"}
