While items like cork grease and cleaning supplies may seem small and mundane, they are vital to the day-to-day operation of a band classroom. My students were excited to see that we are now well-stocked with all of these crucial supplies.\r\n\r\nThe clarinet mouthpieces were especially appreciated. I had several clarinets that were not usable because their mouthpieces had become chipped or broken. With the replacement of these mouthpieces, several more students were able to play an instrument this year. The students were so excited to start their musical journeys! The students were so excited when they received the box. We were so happy when we saw the brand new color pencils. They use them for writing. We use a \"Painted-Essay\" method when we write to organize our paragraphs and essays. The color pencils come in handy to underline and highlight our ideas. \r\n\r\nThe copy paper was also very needed. We copy a lot of our graphic organizers to keep our thoughts organized. Our reading program uses a lot of the organizers to help us break down our writing so we can write a good summary or essay. Where do I begin? \r\n\r\nFirst, the science kits were requested to provide my class with more authentic science interactions. Since I teach a self-contained intensive learning support class, our science time is limited. So many interventions are needed to get our students on grade level. However, these kits provide directions, which support reading, visuals, which support those students not reading on grade level, and the hands-on experience helps cultivate science language, which opens doors for higher learning and critical thinking skills. All of the kits presented a challenge to most of my students. I think the students were fascinated the most with the magnetic force kits. However, we have not put together the solar system yet. They can hardly wait for that experience. \r\n\r\nSecondly, my students are now able to communicate with each other and work together. They are increasing perseverance to accomplish a goal. They are finally beginning to understand that we can all learn from each other and that everyone has a stake in how and what we learn. They are also learning that we can have fun while we learn.\r\n\r\nI get so excited watching my students grow in knowledge. It warms my heart. So again, I say thank you to each of my donors, especially the Gates Foundation, which added the end balance so that the project was completely funded. I could not have reached success without any one of you.","fullyFundedDate":1731236814221,"projectUrl":"project/stem-up-stem-down-stem-all-around/8606543/","projectTitle":"STEM Up, STEM Down, STEM All Around","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Payne","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2770406"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_90848","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":392,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":94,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.0,"schoolId":90848,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Franklin S Edmonds Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Franklin S Edmonds Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/philadelphia-city-school-district/franklin-s-edmonds-elementary-school/90848"}
