When the boxes of new materials arrived for our RTI Block, the atmosphere in the classroom was electric. My students were so excited to see the \"special tools\" they would be using to help them grow. One student even asked, \"Is this all for us?\" Seeing their faces light up made it clear that these resources aren't just tools—they are a message to my students that their community believes in their potential. They love playing games and these help the students not even realize they are learning while having fun.\r\n\r\nWe have been using these resources daily during our small-group intervention time. For example, we use the cvc word popits all the time. This helps my students become more confident in their ability to wound out and blend words together. One of my students, who usually struggles with confidence, was so engaged with the colorful, hands-on materials that they were able to finally start blending cvc words together. It was a breakthrough moment that wouldn't have been possible without the specific, engaging items you provided.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are moving into a new unit focused on building reading fluency and mathematical reasoning. These resources will allow my students to continue practicing these essential skills through independent centers and guided play. The students are obsessed with using their dry-erase clipboards to track their weekly earnings and balances. A favorite moment was watching a student realize that by passing on a bag of Cheez-Its today, they'd finally have enough \"class cash\" to buy a canvas board for a special art project. It's been amazing to see them naturally grasp the concept of saving while using the magnetic marquee letters to check the latest prices at our store.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes first arrived, it felt like Christmas! Their eyes went wide seeing the mini trophies, multicolored pens, and the stash of Skittles and Flamin' Hot chips. There was an immediate buzz as they started strategizing which classroom jobs like using our new broom for \"janitorial duties\" would help them earn the most rewards. It turned our behavioral goals into a fun game that they are actually excited to participate in every day.\r\n\r\nNext up, we're using the laminating pouches to create personalized checkbooks to track their long-term goals. The children love using the shape punchers because many young children love exploring with items that show a cause and effect. Initially they would punch out shapes repeatedly and end there because of their short attention span. However, as time progressed and their ability to attend to tasks and be more intentional in their activities, they have begun to use the different shapes to create larger pictures. We are then supporting them to make these into books using the other materials. \r\nThe students were extremely excited to see the storytelling materials that arrived. Preschoolers have a difficult time sitting, especially in large groups, as they are easily distracted.
