We used the magnetic life cycle visual many times to review where we were In the cycle and where we were going. \r\nStudents wanted to look at our chrysalises every day, and continued to ask when they would hatch and when we'd be able to have butterflies. Once they hatched the next question was \"how many have hatched?\". There was palpable excitement every day when looking at our exhibit. \r\n\r\nWe just released our butterflies and everyone was excited to watch them fly away, but were also sad that we would no longer be able to see them. My students were so excited to see the elkonin poppers, cookie letters, and magnetic letters. They use these every day, and the excitement each time I take them out is so fun. \r\nWe used deers in whole group, small group and in one to one settings. The one to one settings are focused on each students specific IEP goals. They took real ownership of setting up the containers, deciding where items should go, and labeling spaces so everyone knows exactly where to find things. It was a proud moment watching them take responsibility for creating a classroom space that works for everyone.\r\n\r\nWe've already been using the organized materials during math games and writing activities. Students are able to transition faster between lessons because they know exactly where to find dice, pencils, and other supplies. Instead of waiting for materials to be passed out, they can independently get what they need and stay focused on learning.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue building strong classroom routines that encourage independence and responsibility. Students will keep managing and maintaining our organized supply stations as part of our daily classroom jobs. Students completed a project outlining the chronological order of events during The Beatles career and we displayed a bulletin board utilizing the music notes and vinyl records for all to see. \r\n\r\nThis month, students will be reading and writing about National Parks around our country.
