The snacks have been especially helpful during longer project-based learning blocks, giving students a quick energy boost so they can stay engaged and productive. The craft supplies have been used in interactive assignments, including a recent creative reflection project where students designed visual representations of what they've learned this quarter. One of my favorite moments was watching students collaborate, share materials, and take real pride in their finished work! It created an atmosphere of excitement and ownership in the classroom.\r\n\r\nThe students were genuinely excited and grateful. When they saw the snacks and craft supplies, there were lots of smiles and a few happy gasps.\r\n\r\nWe are continuing to integrate the craft supplies into upcoming collaborative and hands-on learning activities. Students will be working on small group projects where they will create visual presentations to demonstrate their understanding of key concepts. The snacks will continue to support sustained focus during these longer work sessions. These resources are helping us build not only academic skills, but also creativity, teamwork, and a strong sense of classroom community. These supplies are already being put to excellent use: the Post-it paper has provided a canvas for our collaborative group projects, while the Ziploc bags are essential tools for our upcoming hands-on experiments. The hot cocoa cups are serving as a wonderful \"grand prize\" reward that the students are working hard to earn, and the essential oils have created a focused, calming atmosphere that helps everyone stay on task. My students thoroughly enjoyed reading the novel \"Touching Spirit Bear\". They made connections with the characters and the theme(s) of this wonderful story of redemption and forgiveness. \r\nThis is the first novel that many students have read cover to cover (vs. just excerpts or short stories provided in our curriculum). We had lively discussions throughout the story and finished with a terrific Socratic Seminar that challenged their critical thinking and speaking and listening skills.\r\nThe culminating project was to create their own totems with spirit animals that represented their character traits in the past, present and traits they wish to posses in the future.\r\nThank you again for helping to provide the opportunity for my students to be enriched with excellent literature.","fullyFundedDate":1768717623042,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-readers-today-become-tomorrows/10034646/","projectTitle":"Help Our Readers Today Become Tomorrow's Thinkers and Doers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. MARTINO","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8140491"},{"teacherId":2145538,"projectId":10016481,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for bringing \"Mapping Success in Full Color\" to our classroom. In an 8th-grade History and Geography setting, the ability to visualize the world is the foundation of all learning. Before your generous gift, my students often struggled to distinguish between complex layers on black-and-white photocopies. Now, with our new color laser printer, the world has quite literally opened up to them in vivid detail.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this technology was immediate. My students were incredibly excited to see the first set of high-resolution climate and topographical maps. One student, who usually struggles with spatial awareness, remarked that they could finally \"see where the mountains actually start\" because of the clear color gradients. This technology allows me to print specialized, up-to-date resources that cater to our specific curriculum, from migration patterns to shifting political borders.\r\n\r\nBy having access to these colorful, high-quality materials, my students are moving past simple memorization and are beginning to analyze the \"why\" behind global events. They are more engaged, more confident in their map-reading skills, and more curious about the world beyond our classroom walls. Thank you for investing in these young historians and for providing the tools they need to see their education in full color!","fullyFundedDate":1768899071024,"projectUrl":"project/mapping-success-in-full-color/10016481/","projectTitle":"Mapping Success in Full Color","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Beeghly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2145538_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y772&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768254662575","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jessica-beeghly"},{"teacherId":9617895,"projectId":10001937,"letterContent":"The arrival of these resources has transformed our classroom into a high-functioning classroom where students feel both safe and valued. While things like a broom, dustpan, and a three-hole punch may seem like basic supplies, in a 7th grade science room, they are the backbone of our \"Sanctuary.\" My students now take immense pride in their workspace; after a messy activity or lab, they no longer have to wait for me to clean up—they grab the broom and work together to reset the room for the next period. This ownership has fostered a level of responsibility and \"Order\" that was missing before.\r\n\r\nMany donors may think of technology only as tablets or computers, but in our room, a vital piece of technology is the HEPA air filtration system. This device works silently in the background to ensure my students and I are breathing clean, filtered air, which is especially important in our high-traffic desert environment. Additionally, the safety window covers are a crucial piece of safety. They allow us to instantly secure our room in a \"lockdown\" situation while maintaining privacy during daily instruction. This \"Safety\" pillar allows my students to lower their stress levels and focus entirely on the curriculum.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for the students has actually been the consistency these supplies provide. Having a reliable supply of pencils and a high-quality pencil sharpener has removed a major daily stressor, allowing us to start our lessons much faster. One particular group of students, who previously struggled with staying organized, has really taken to using the three-hole punch to keep their Unit 4 notebooks in order. Of course, the Jolly Ranchers have been a great, simple way to recognize students who are following our classroom norms and doing the right thing. Because of your generosity, my students can focus less on what they are missing and more on the science in front of them.","fullyFundedDate":1768981543378,"projectUrl":"project/safety-joy-and-order/10001937/","projectTitle":"Safety, Joy, and Order","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cascio","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9617895_orig.jpg?crop=320,320,x0,y27&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746640157306","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9617895"},{"teacherId":9167362,"projectId":9987988,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support for my classroom. The heavy-duty pencil sharpener has eliminated a major source of frustration and transition delay, allowing us to jump straight into our data collection and sketching without a \"battle\" over broken lead. During our recent Rock Transformation unit, the cleaning wipes became an essential part of our routine. After a hands-on lab involving modeling how rocks form, students took ownership of their workspaces, using the wipes to ensure the lab tables were sanitized and ready for the next period. It has taught them a level of professional responsibility that goes beyond the curriculum. The air purifier has been amazing as well as it gives us a \"clear\" mind to work!\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, my students are preparing to dive into our Chemistry curriculum. With a clean, organized, and well-equipped room, we are moving into a series of labs focused on the phase change and chemical reactions. Because we now have the supplies to maintain a clean environment and functional tools, we can spend more time on \"doing\" science rather than managing desk clutter.
