Their eyes lit up as they explored the pieces, and they couldn't wait to start building. Many of them immediately began talking about ideas they wanted to try and problems they wanted to solve. It was wonderful to see their curiosity and confidence grow right away.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the STEM materials during our science and engineering time to design and build structures such as bridges, towers, and problem-solving creations. One memorable moment was watching a group of students redesign their tower after it fell over. Instead of giving up, they worked together, tested new ideas, and proudly shared what they learned from their mistakes. These materials have helped my students practice collaboration, perseverance, and creative thinking.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our next steps include connecting these building experiences to our current lessons on forces, motion, and design. These resources will help students work toward their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals while aligning with the Arizona Early Learning Standards (AZELS) in language, literacy, social-emotional growth, physical development, and approaches to learning.\r\n\r\nWith adaptive tools, children will gain confidence in writing and meet goals in Emergent Writing. Communication boards will give nonverbal students a voice, supporting AZELS Language and Literacy. Sensory materials will help children self-regulate, guiding them toward Social-Emotional Development benchmarks.\r\n\r\nWe expect to see measurable results. For example, students working on fine motor goals will increase tool-use accuracy by at least 20%, aligning with AZELS Fine Motor Development. Children with comprehension goals will move from answering 1 out of 5 questions independently to at least 3 out of 5 during picture-supported read-alouds. Socially, more students will progress from parallel play to cooperative play, reflecting growth in Peer Interactions.\r\n\r\nI know their faces will light up when they see these new materials. Some will find joy in writing their first letter, while others will feel a sense of pride as they share their thoughts with a peer.
