Prior to the students just putting their Student Council Materials away, they had to brainstorm what they wanted to use the containers for and how they were going to implement their organization. The students then had to clean out their cabinets and start organizing what the materials were (concessions, paint, lanyards, Holiday decorations, and spirit week). Students learned how to center the clay, pull the walls, and shape their pieces, all while gaining a real appreciation for the patience and focus pottery requires.\r\n\r\nOne particularly memorable moment was when a student who had previously struggled with confidence in art proudly held up their finished bowl and said, \"I didn't think I could do this, but I actually made something real.\" That sense of accomplishment has been echoed throughout the class. The pottery wheels have not only given students a new creative outlet but have also taught them resilience and persistence as they refine their technique.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're beginning a project where students will design and create functional mugs with personalized designs and textures.
