The foot roller has been especially helpful during seated work time, and the fidgets have given students an appropriate outlet for movement while staying engaged in lessons. The math workbooks have also been a great addition, giving students extra practice with word problems and helping them build confidence as they break down questions and explain their thinking. The workbooks for writing and math are being implemented to help with understanding proper writing skills and introducing methods to do math word problems as well. \r\n\r\nNext, we will continue incorporating these materials into our daily routines and learning activities to support focus, self-regulation, and independence. Because of you, our class was able to utilize the STEM materials you provided. Last fall, we completed a STEM activity that also celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month. We studied Frida Kahlo and the students got to brainstorm, sketch, and build a sturdy paintbrush with certain materials. Then they tested them out by painting self portraits with them. We got to discuss our challenges, what worked well and what changes we would make. It was a wonderful learning experience for them! \r\nI am also continuing to communicate with families every week by sending home a weekly newsletter informing them of the curriculum we will be studying and events coming up.
