This year, I have made a goal to learn more about supporting students with social emotional and behavioral needs. I took the initiative to sign up for some courses, which were incredibly helpful, yet I still need assistance on how to translate my new knowledge into engaging classroom activities. That's where the resources from \"Creating a Positive Productive Classroom\" came in. \r\nReceiving books for read alouds, sensory tools-spot squishies, visual timer, and teacher manuals provided me with some resources to create meaningful lessons. The books I received all are about being neuro-divergent, social situations, and regulating emotions. ALL my students are neuro-divergent and so enjoyed making connections with characters and seeing how they use calming and coping strategies. The sensory tools were used as a part of a strategies unit where I taught breathing, sensory, and thinking strategies for students to use when needing to regulate their emotions. Students will independently select tools throughout lessons to help them focus and even love playing with the spot squishies during free choice time. I have one student in particular who loves to race the visual timer and will even throw his hands in the air, like a cooking show, prior to the buzzer. Before this, it was a struggle for him to even write two words. Finally, the teacher manuals provide ideas and resources for me to gather lessons and reproducibles from.","fullyFundedDate":1768861466813,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-productive-thoughtful-classro/10040432/","projectTitle":"Creating a Productive Thoughtful Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Peterson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3812875_272x272.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1472732299142","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3812875"},{"teacherId":8132816,"projectId":10010406,"letterContent":"The impact of this project on our special education classroom has been immediate and meaningful. My students learn best through hands-on, engaging experiences, and these new materials have allowed me to provide instruction in ways that truly meet their needs. The cooperative games have been especially powerful in helping students practice turn-taking, patience, and communication with their peers. Many of my students require explicit instruction and repeated opportunities to build social skills, and these games provide a structured yet fun way to do that. I have already seen students using more appropriate language with one another, waiting their turn with less prompting, and working together more successfully during group activities. These are skills that directly support not only their social development but also their ability to participate in classroom learning.\r\n\r\nThe hands-on phonics games have also made a significant difference in how my students engage with reading instruction. Many of my students have dyslexia or other learning disabilities and benefit greatly from multi-sensory approaches to learning. Being able to incorporate visual, tactile, and interactive elements into phonics instruction has increased both their understanding and their confidence. Students who previously struggled to stay engaged during traditional reading activities are now more motivated to participate and practice their skills. I have seen an increase in student effort, willingness to try, and overall engagement during small group instruction. These materials allow me to differentiate more effectively and provide repeated, meaningful practice in a way that feels accessible and enjoyable for my students.\r\n\r\nIn addition to academic and social growth, this project has supported creativity, independence, and classroom organization. The magnet tiles have given students opportunities for imaginative play and problem-solving, which are especially valuable during structured free time and reward-based activities. These moments allow students to build creativity while also practicing collaboration and flexible thinking. The storage containers have also made a noticeable difference in our classroom environment. Having organized, easily accessible materials helps create consistency and structure, which is essential for my students. It allows for smoother transitions, increased independence, and more instructional time throughout the day. Overall, this project has helped create a more engaging, supportive, and organized learning environment where my students can build confidence, develop important skills, and experience success every day.","fullyFundedDate":1768489299958,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-organized-engaging-and-suppo/10010406/","projectTitle":"Tools for Organized, Engaging, and Supportive Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8132816_orig.jpg?crop=448,448,x0,y52&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768171937848","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8132816"},{"teacherId":3726847,"projectId":10017345,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom! We are using our new art supplies during hands-on learning centers where students explore creativity through drawing, coloring, cutting, and building. One of our favorite recent moments was during a themed writing activity—students illustrated their own stories using the new materials, and their excitement was incredible. Many of them couldn't wait to share their work with classmates and proudly explain their pictures.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, my students were absolutely thrilled! Their faces lit up as they saw all the new colors, tools, and materials ready for them to use. There was a lot of \"Can we use it now?\" and \"Is this really ours?\" It was such a joyful moment for our classroom community.\r\n\r\nWe are also using the organizing supplies and classroom essentials daily to help build independence and responsibility. Students are learning how to properly store and care for materials, which has made transitions smoother and our classroom more efficient. Our next steps include continuing to integrate these resources into literacy and math centers, where students will practice skills in more interactive, hands-on ways. Because of you, our classroom is becoming a space where creativity is encouraged, ideas are celebrated, and every child feels empowered to take risks and grow. Your kindness is not only providing materials, but also opening doors for my students to see themselves as capable, confident learners.\r\n\r\nWith the addition of whiteboards, students will have the opportunity to practice brainstorming, drafting, and revising their ideas in a low-pressure and highly engaging way. This simple yet powerful tool allows them to freely express their thoughts without the fear of making mistakes. They can easily erase, revise, and try again, which helps build resilience and confidence. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by writing, students begin to see it as a process—one that they can navigate successfully. This shift in mindset is incredibly important, especially for young learners who are just beginning to develop their writing skills.\r\n\r\nThe books you have helped provide will serve as valuable mentor texts in our classroom. Through these stories, students will discover new ideas, expand their vocabulary, and gain a deeper understanding of how authors craft their work. These texts will inspire creativity and spark imagination, encouraging students to think beyond the basics and explore their own unique voices. Seeing themselves reflected in stories and learning from real authors helps students begin to view themselves as writers too, which is a powerful and lasting transformation.\r\n\r\nAs their confidence grows and their ideas come to life on the page, students will be able to extend their learning even further by turning their writing into creative art projects. This combination of literacy and artistic expression allows students to connect with their work in a deeper, more meaningful way. Whether they are illustrating their stories, creating visual representations of their ideas, or designing projects based on their writing, they are given the opportunity to express themselves in multiple ways. This not only enhances engagement but also makes learning joyful and memorable.\r\n\r\nThis project is helping to transform writing time into an interactive and exciting experience where every student feels valued and inspired to share their voice. It creates a classroom environment where creativity is celebrated, effort is recognized, and growth is encouraged. Students who may have once been hesitant to write are now eager to participate, take risks, and proudly share their work with others.\r\n\r\nYour support is making a lasting difference in the lives of my students. Your donation has truly made a difference for my students, and I am so grateful for your kindness.\r\n\r\nThe technology you provided, especially the iPad, has been such a valuable addition to our classroom. While we only have one device, it has still had a big impact. I use it during small group instruction, centers, and as a reward or support tool when needed. It allows students to practice skills in a more interactive way, especially in reading and math. They are able to get immediate feedback, which helps them understand their mistakes and keep trying. It has also been really helpful for students who need a little extra support or a different way to access the material.\r\n\r\nMy students get very excited when it is their turn to use the iPad. It feels special to them, and they take it very seriously. Even students who sometimes struggle to stay focused are more engaged when they are using it. I have noticed that they are more willing to try, even when something is challenging. It has made learning feel a little more fun and motivating for them, which has been great to see.\r\n\r\nI have a few students in particular who have really benefited from having access to this technology. Some of my quieter students, who do not always volunteer or speak up in whole group settings, seem more confident when working on the iPad. They are willing to take risks and try new things without worrying about making mistakes in front of others. I also have students who need extra repetition, and the apps and programs we use allow them to practice skills multiple times in a way that keeps them engaged instead of frustrated.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the iPad, the other supplies like snacks and glue sticks have also made a big difference in our day to day classroom life. The snacks have been especially helpful for students who come to school hungry or need a little boost to get through the day. It is hard for students to focus when they are hungry, so having those available has really helped with their ability to stay on task and participate in learning.\r\n\r\nThe glue sticks may seem simple, but they are something we use all the time. Having enough supplies for everyone means we can keep lessons running smoothly without interruptions. It also helps students feel prepared and ready to learn without having to worry about not having what they need.\r\n\r\nOverall, your donation has helped create a more supportive, engaging, and positive learning environment for my students. They are more excited to learn, more willing to try, and better able to focus throughout the day. The softer lighting has also made a noticeable difference during small group instruction and quiet work periods, helping students remain calm and attentive.
