Many of these stories also support important social–emotional lessons: celebrating identity, building empathy, and understanding culture and community.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is both a shared and joyful experience. We read together during whole-group instruction, in small guided reading groups, and independently during \"book choice\" time.
