My students have been requesting materials for producing their own media content for too long, but it was not something I could fit into our ever-shrinking library budget. With your support, not only have we been able to supplement their independent zine creation with custom buttons, students are now able to create the media projects that they envisioned growing into.\r\n\r\nIt has been amazing to see their creativity take hold as they have quickly pivoted to different media formats. Their ability to quickly learn new tools and discover different programs that allow them to bring their visions to life never ceases to impress me.\r\n\r\nIt is exciting to hear what their plans are for a full year of these materials being accessible, while also hearing how they are going to promote different library programs as a way to grow our ability to keep introducing new materials and avenues for them to continue learning and growing.","fullyFundedDate":1768104128427,"projectUrl":"project/content-creativity/9992182/","projectTitle":"Content Creativity","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Keith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1758636_orig.jpg?crop=272,272,x29,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1552575801330","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mkeith"},{"teacherId":7374637,"projectId":9992831,"letterContent":"How We're Using the New Chairs\r\nThe students are using these seats to transition between focused individual work and group projects. Instead of being stuck in one position at a hard desk, they can now choose a spot that helps them stay calm and productive.\r\n\r\nA specific moment: During our recent writing workshop, I noticed the room was significantly quieter than usual. Students were scattered around the room completely settled into their work. Having the option to move or \"nest\" has lowered the overall anxiety in the room, making it much easier for them to focus on the task at hand.\r\n\r\nInitial Reactions\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the kids were genuinely excited and curious. The biggest shift wasn't just in the \"cool factor\" of the chairs, but in the feeling of ownership it gave them. They felt like the classroom was finally designed for them rather than just being a standard utility room. It immediately boosted the morale of the class.\r\n\r\nBuilding Better Rapport\r\nThese resources have done a lot to improve our class culture. Because the seating is flexible, the physical barriers between students are gone. It's easier for them to turn toward a partner to collaborate or for me to pull up a seat next to them for a quick check-in. It feels less like a formal lecture hall and more like a collaborative workspace.","fullyFundedDate":1768098943481,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-with-stein/9992831/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating With Stein","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Stein","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7374637"},{"teacherId":8150067,"projectId":9992295,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my classroom. My freshmen drew pictures that interpreted characters, similes, metaphors, and analogies from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. My juniors created one-pagers relating Arthur Miller's The Crucible to a modern form of hysteria. I was also able to print and display their character tweets based on the play. My myth and folklore students got to draw maps for their Dungeons and Dragons game campaigns.\r\n\r\nI have been able to make my handouts more visually appealing with the ink provided. I am also working on creating a folder for my myth and folklore classes for next year because we do not have textbooks for that class.\r\n\r\nMy students have also made use of the headphones to listen to podcasts and audiobooks. The card stock, lamination sheets, scissors, clips, and sharpies have been especially helpful for creating organized project displays, labeling materials, and building presentation boards for class assignments. The Lysol wipes have also been incredibly valuable in our Cosmetology department because sanitation is a critical part of our training, and students use them to properly clean their stations and tools throughout the day.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were excited and grateful. The fun stickers immediately brought smiles and added a little creativity and personality to their work. This project has been a big hit with students the past two years I have done it, but it has gone to a whole new level now that they have access to these materials. This year students came up with new and really interesting ways to conduct investigations on this topic. From being able to take the equipment outside and run laps, stair climbs, and even testing the effects of just student paths from class to class on blood pressure and heart rate. Many saw results they expected, but some were surprised by what they saw and this lead to many new questions and discussions, both in class and in their reports they wrote. One group even asked to if they would be allowed to check out equipment to test over the weekend during their gymnastics practice to see how not just different routines but even per-competition meals can affect their bodies in both blood pressure and performance.\r\nIt is always great when students become engaged beyond just the lesson or project and begin to ask meaningful questions on what we did and how it directly applies to their own personal lives.
